Wentnor is a small village at the lower end of a long ridge west of the Long Mynd in southern Shropshire. A peaceful and remote spot off the beaten track, yet it makes the perfect destination for exploring so many beautiful local towns and villages...
Here are just a few...
Known as 'Little Switzerland'... enjoy one of the most breathtaking journeys over The Long Mynd to reach charming Church Stretton. The only town in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area is renowned worldwide for its geology, with some of the oldest rock formations in existence.
A beautiful market town situated in the very heart of the Marches, in the south of Shropshire close to the borders of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Wales. Ludlow has a well deserved reputation for food due to the quality of the produce made in the area, its award winning bakers, butchers sourcing local meat.
Bishop’s Castle is a small, market town at the centre of magnificent, unspoilt hill country. The prominent 18th century Town Hall, which has undergone a major renovation, stands at the top of the main street, and is the centre for much activity in the town. There are two museums and a Heritage Resource Centre AND the oldest licensed brewery in the country -The Three Tuns.
Founded by the Saxons and developed mostly by the Tudors, there's no place like our beautifu county town of Shrewsbury!
Shrewsbury's name has evolved from Old English Scrobbesburh, its later Welsh name Amwythig means "fortified place"
The town centre is neatly scooped up in the loop of the River Severn. Inside the loop crisscrossing Medieval streets are lined with wonky buildings containing original and one-off shops and street names that truly tell a story - look out for Butcher Row, Fish Street and Grope Lane.
In 1986 the Ironbridge Gorge was one of the first locations to be designated as a World Heritage Site within the U.K. . This designation recognised the area’s unique and unrivalled contribution to the birth of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century; the impact of which is still felt across the world today.
